In this month’s edition of Meet The Sandboxer, our post comes from Kim Edra, a Senior PR Manager here at Sandbox.
What do you do/when did you join Sandbox?
I became a part-time member of the Sandbox team in 2011, as a young kid fresh out of college. Little did I know that this initial step would lead to a remarkable 12-year journey to becoming a Senior PR Manager. While I’ve always enjoyed playing video games, I never imagined it would turn into a long-lasting career. Sandbox has evolved into my second family, witnessing not only my professional growth but also my personal milestones from marriage to now having 2 kids!
Favorite experience at Sandbox?
Fun fact, basketball is my favorite sport – so when I reflect on my most treasured memory here, meeting and sharing a meal with the legendary Shaquille O’Neal tops the list (he’s seriously about 2 feet taller than me!). This took place during our campaign on Saber’s NBA Playgrounds, and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to spend time with the big guy.
Another remarkable experience worth mentioning was my first trip to Paris, France, where I had the pleasure of connecting with the fantastic Focus Interactive team. Great folks, great games and great food!
First video game console/memory?
It would have to be getting my lime green Game Boy Color for Christmas when I was about 8. I had Pokemon Red and Pokemon Pinball on steady rotation.
What are you playing now?
With a constantly expanding ‘to play’ list mixed in with the demands of raising 2 young kids, it’s a challenge to carve out time for myself. However, whenever I manage to snatch a rare moment to jump into some gaming, my go-to choice lately has been Call of Duty: Warzone.
What are some of your hobbies outside of games?
I’ve been collecting sneakers since 2001, mostly Jordans and Nikes. I’m also a huge New York Knicks fan – proud to admit it!
Bonus Round – We’re doing two questions for this one! What is your favorite Pokemon, and why? What is a Pokemon you DISLIKE?
Favorite Pokemon has to be Kangaskhan for a very silly (but happy) reason, which is because I think it resembles my kids and I. Definitely dislike Spinarak and the rest of the spider Pokemon. Spiders? BIG NOPE.
