It’s the end of June, and Sandbox is wrapping up one of its busiest months ever! With multiple digital showcases, in-person previews and events, the summer gaming season finally feels like it’s come back stronger than ever.
During the PC Gaming Show, Sandbox helped to reveal updates, reveals, and new looks at Altered Alma, Last Train Home, Ember Knights, Bloomtown: A Different Story, and Teardown! The Wholesome Games Direct saw Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley and Moonstone Island make appearances, and the Future Games Show revealed Star Trucker!
Meanwhile, on the ground in Los Angeles, Sandbox was just as busy! We had the pleasure of attending the Summer Game Fest showcase, where Baldur’s Gate 3, Banisher’s: Ghosts of New Eden, Toxic Commando and Space Marine 2 all had a presence. And at Summer Game Fest Play Days, we had a chance to help preview the first showing of Galacticare, a delightfully wacky sci-fi hospital simulator. We had the chance to see old and new faces in the games industry again for one of the first times since 2019. Finally escaping the world of emails was a great treat!
Still in Los Angeles, the team also held private press previews of the newly announced arcade football game Wild Card Football, which launches October 10. While there, we hung out with two stars of the game – Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
As if that wasn’t enough, to cap off the month, Gloomhaven and Mythforce each featured in last week’s latest Nintendo Direct. That’s on top of the numerous announcements, game releases, and previews the team worked on throughout June.
