It’s been a busy end of summer/start of fall at Sandbox. Part of the fun has included attending in-person events again. We made the trek to gamescom with Saber, and took road trips to Williamsport, PA for the Little League World Series and Indianapolis for the NHRA Championship to show off a couple GameMill titles.
It was my (Dan’s) first time at gamescom, and it also marked my first time at a show since PAX East 2020. Saber was demoing their upcoming racer Dakar Desert Rally, and it was nice to see developers interact with media in-person again. It felt incredibly surreal to be at a crowded convention again, but it was refreshing to feel the devs’ passion as they showcased their games to press for the first time.
Rob attended the Little League World Series in Williamsport to show off the first new Little League baseball video game in over a decade! It is an absolutely amazing event with tons of energy and excitement. The kids are so excited to be there and just have so much fun walking around among all the fans. Everything from sliding down the hill by Lamade Stadium to cheering on teams from around the world make this a one-of-a-kind event.
Rob and Tyler also had the chance to take a trip to the NHRA U.S Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis. They demoed the recently released NHRA: Speed For All with the game’s producer to thousands of passionate fans – all while surrounded by the booming sounds of top fuel competition. It’s always interesting to see people’s reactions when we bring games to non-gaming events, and seeing both long-time NHRA fans and kids have fun served as a great reminder that gaming is for everyone!
