February 2025: Sandbox News Roundup

Another month filled with news from Sandbox clients! Here’s a quick overview of all the major stories we shared this past month (February 2025) ICYMI:

New Game Releases

  • Tape 1 of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, the new narrative adventure from original Life is Strange creators DON’T NOD, launched on PC, PlayStation (including PS Plus Extra/Premium) and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders for the game’s vinyl soundtrack, releasing later this year, also went live.
  • Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered released on PC and consoles from Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics.

Upcoming Game Release News

  • During Sony’s State of Play, Supermassive showcased a new trailer for the sci-fi horror adventure Directive 8020 revealing the game’s Oct. 2, 2025, release date.
  • Indie-horror darling Mouthwashing announced it’s reached 500K units sold and is coming to consoles later this year (including physical PS5 and Switch from Fangamer).
  • Publisher CRITICAL REFLEX revealed in the ID@Xbox Showcase that the viral-horror hit Buckshot Roulette will come to Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass later this year.
  • CRITICAL REFLEX also shared in the ID@Xbox Showcase that TANUKI: Pon’s Summer, featuring an adorably furry hero in a quaint Japanese village, will launch on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass and Nintendo Switch later this year.
  • DON’T NOD announced that the wholesome adventure game Koira’s release date has been bumped up by two weeks! The game is now coming on April 1, 2025, to PC and PS5. 
  • New indie video game publisher Polden debuted two new titles in its upcoming lineup: the Lovecraftian horror game Static Dread: 15 Nights at the Old Lighthouse and the cozy management sim Train Valley Origins. Demos for both games are playable now as part of Steam Next Fest!
  • SAND, tinyBuild’s open-world multiplayer game with mechs set in a diesel-punk desert world, announced it will debut on Steam Early Access on April 3.
  • Petricore announced that the immersive mixed-reality roguelite fantasy RPG Mythic Realms will launch on Meta Quest on March 13.

New Game Updates

  • Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive released loads of new content with the “Datavault” update for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
  • Expeditions: A MudRunner Game’s second season of premium and free content released, featuring a snowy new map,  plus new vehicles, challenges and more.
  • iRacing unveiled new details from career mode for NASCAR 25 in a new dev diary featuring Dale Earnhardt Jr. The full game launches later this year on PC and consoles.

Steam Next Fest Demos!

  • Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive’s next-gen sandbox sim RoadCraft released its first demo in Steam Next Fest.
  • Saber Interactive released the first Steam demo for the fantasy action-adventure game The Knightling, playable now.
  • 3D Realms launched Twisted Tower’s Steam Next Fest demo, bringing players to a bloodfetti-soaked world that’s a cross between BioShock and Disneyland.
  • 3D Realms also gave players a taste of the single-player campaign and skirmish mode for the upcoming RTS Tempest Rising with a new demo out now.
  • CRITICAL REFLEX’s roguelike autobattler Deadlock Station launched a new demo just in time for Steam Next Fest.
