Tonight is The Game Awards, the industry’s annual celebration of the year’s best games. It feels extra important this year to honor some of the titles that provided a welcome distraction during the pandemic. With so many amazing games released each year (far more than can be honored in one night), it’s a truly special accomplishment to be nominated for an award.
We were lucky enough to do influencer relations work on several of those nominees this year, including Devolver’s Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout (nominated for Best Multiplayer, Best Indie, Best Family Game and Best Community Support) and Carrion (Best Debut Game, Best Indie), as well as Codemasters’ DIRT 5 (Best Sports/Racing Game) and THQ Nordic’s Desperados III (Best Sim/Strategy). Congrats to all those teams for their incredible work!
The Game Awards have grown with each iteration (over 50 million viewers last year!) and hopefully tonight will continue that trend. It may feel strange without a live audience, but we’ll still be treated to a star-studded showcase with Eddie Vedder performing and Keanu Reeves, Christopher Nolan and Reggie Fils-Aime among the presenters. We can’t wait to see which games take home the hardware, not to mention all the exciting reveals and announcements for 2021 and beyond!
